At Fairview Elementary School in Bloomington, Indiana, 19 preschoolers each received three books to take home through a drive organized by Indiana University’s School of Education Staff Council. The university reported the distribution on October 30, although it did not specify when the books were handed out.
The gifts reached children in two preschool classrooms. An anonymous benefactor also purchased sticker books and goodie bags for each student, while each classroom received two additional books and a floor puzzle. That gave the effort two practical parts: materials children could keep and resources that would remain at school for shared use.
The council plans two more rounds during the school year and has published an Amazon wish list for people who want to contribute. The next step is specific: supporters can choose from that list rather than guess which books to send. For now, the confirmed result is modest and tangible—19 children have books of their own. The university’s short account does not measure changes in reading skills, and the donation should not be presented as evidence of those outcomes.
