Across Massachusetts' North Shore, volunteer cooks are delivering homemade meals to families and neighbors who need support.
Sometimes, a homemade meal can remind someone that their community cares.
Across Essex County, Massachusetts, volunteers with Lasagna Love are preparing and delivering meals to neighbors experiencing illness, financial difficulties, or other challenges.
Since the initiative began locally in 2020, volunteers have completed 4,974 deliveries, reaching approximately 19,800 people, according to the organization.
Among them is Mary Taggart, who has delivered meals benefiting more than 500 residents.
Another volunteer, Anna-mary Geist, involves her children in preparing lasagnas, continuing a family tradition learned from her late mother.
Her daughter Emily, 17, is now organizing a student volunteer club to help meet growing demand.
The kindness comes at an important time. Local meal requests have increased, leaving volunteers working to reach more households.
Behind every delivery is a neighbor choosing to make someone's day a little easier.
