A deer fell through a swimming-pool cover in Livonia, Michigan, and could not climb out. The pool had been partially drained, leaving the animal without enough footing to escape, according to the fire department’s account reported by FOX 2 Detroit.
Police arrived first and requested help from firefighters. The crew lowered an extension ladder into the pool, creating a route back to the edge. Once it was in position, the deer climbed out on its own.
The animal ran off, apparently uninjured. The department shared video of the successful rescue and reminded pool owners that covers do not always keep wildlife out. The local report was published November 3.
